Sofa brand ‘ALLOSO’

A first for a domestic furniture brand

Determining that a clear standard for sofa quality is needed so that consumers can use furniture with peace of mind, ALLOSO developed a new evaluation metric for sofas and earned recognition as an internationally accredited testing laboratory from KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme).

A representative of the ALLOSO brand said, “Just as you carefully consider the durability and safety of a mattress to improve the quality of your sleep, ‘good quality’ should be the top priority when choosing a sofa, where you spend the most time at home.” The representative added, “In keeping with our brand value of cherishing the everyday inspiration found on the sofa, ALLOSO became the first in the domestic furniture industry to carry out the KOLAS test—a metric for evaluating sofa quality—and achieved the distinction of earning recognition as an internationally accredited testing laboratory.”

KOLAS is an accredited testing body under the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It is a system that comprehensively evaluates a testing laboratory’s organization, facilities, personnel, and more in accordance with international standards, and officially recognizes that the laboratory possesses testing capabilities meeting international criteria.

Through this accreditation, ALLOSO has objectively demonstrated the durability of its products and the suitability of its testing system. At the same time, should other sofa companies request quality certification, ALLOSO is now able to conduct testing based on the evaluation standards it developed and to issue accredited test reports.

The test items that ALLOSO proposed to KOLAS and for which it obtained recognition number four in total: the ‘backrest horizontal strength test,’ the ‘backrest horizontal durability test,’ the ‘seat durability test,’ and the ‘drop test.’ The experiments were designed to test representative quality issues, assuming an average sofa lifespan of 10 years. ALLOSO sofas passed 120,000 cycles of backrest durability testing and 100,000 cycles of seat durability testing, and also proved their robust durability in a drop test applying a load of 102 kg.
