Sales through June up more than 40% year-on-year

Air intake positioned at the front, leaving almost no indoor protrusion

LG Electronics (CEO Cho Joo-wan) announced that sales of its window-type air conditioners have surged sharply amid the onset of a full-fledged heat wave.

Sales of LG Electronics' 'Whisen Objet Collection Edge' through June this year rose more than 40% year-on-year. The biggest driving factor is the differentiated design and convenience unique to the 'Whisen Objet Collection Edge.'

Last year, LG Electronics won strong acclaim by unveiling a clean design with almost no indoor protrusion, becoming the first window-type air conditioner to position the air intake at the front.

This year, the company enhanced customer convenience by expanding its installation kits to a variety of heights—from small 105㎝ windows to large 240㎝ windows—for customers who previously found installation difficult due to tall windows.

The LG Whisen Objet Collection Edge is also useful during the rainy season thanks to its leak-proof finish and excellent dehumidification performance. Its sealed-structure installation kit, tailored to the structure and width of the window, was proven to block rain from entering indoors in tests conducted by TÜV Rheinland, an internationally accredited testing and certification body. Its dehumidification function is another advantage. With dehumidification performance of up to 34 liters (daily dehumidification capacity)—larger than a 20-liter high-capacity dehumidifier—it keeps indoor spaces comfortable during the humid rainy season.

The full-fledged heat wave is also seen as a factor in the sales increase. On Monday the 3rd, heat wave advisories were issued nationwide, with the apparent temperature observed to reach 33 to 35 degrees. According to the 'Three-Month Outlook for July to September 2023' recently released by the Korea Meteorological Administration, temperatures in Korea are expected to be similar to or higher than average. Amid such heat waves, as window-type air conditioner sales rise, production at the LG Smart Park in Changwon is also expected to continue increasing.

The LG Whisen Objet Collection Edge also eases concerns about electricity bills. Because it is an Energy Consumption Efficiency Grade 1 product equipped with a Dual Inverter Compressor featuring two cylinders that compress the refrigerant, it delivers outstanding cooling performance and energy efficiency.

LG Electronics is taking the lead in environmental protection by applying R32 refrigerant—whose Global Warming Potential (GWP) is about 1/3 to 1/4 that of the conventional R410A—across all of its residential air conditioners launched this year. This is part of the ESG management that LG Electronics is practicing to create a better environment for future generations.

Lee Jae-sung, Executive Vice President and head of the Air Solution Business Division at LG Electronics' H&A Company, said, "With this summer expected to be hotter and rainier than usual, we will provide a differentiated customer experience through our diverse lineup of Whisen air conditioners—including the increasingly popular window-type models as well as stand, system, wall-mounted, and portable units—that can be chosen according to installation space or design."
