LG Hausys Supports Renovation of the ‘Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall’

In celebration of the 73rd anniversary of National Liberation Day, LG Hausys is continuing its patriotic community-contribution activities by supporting renovation work at the ‘Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall.’

In connection with this, on August 13 LG Hausys held a reopening ceremony for the memorial hall at the ‘Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall,’ located within Dosan Park in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Kim Jae-sil, chairman of the Memorial Association for the Patriot Dosan Ahn Chang-ho; Oh Jin-young, director of the Seoul Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs; Kang Man-hee, director of the Seoul Southern Branch Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs; and Kim Jang-seong, executive director and CHO of LG Hausys.

The Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall exhibits records, photographs, and personal effects documenting the life of Ahn Chang-ho, who took a leading role in the independence movement—joining the Independence Club, holding the Manmin Joint Conference, a mass assembly advocating national independence and government reform, and organizing the New People’s Association (Sinminhoe) and the Young Korean Academy (Heungsadan). In Dosan Park, outside the memorial hall, are the graves of Ahn Chang-ho and his wife, Lee Hye-ryeon.

Since its opening in 1998, the memorial hall had aged over the past 20 years, and LG Hausys carried out renovation work to replace the flooring and interior film in the first-floor exhibition room and the basement auditorium, helping visitors use the memorial hall in a more pleasant environment.

At the reopening ceremony that day, Kim Jae-sil, chairman of the Memorial Association for the Patriot Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Marking the 80th anniversary of the passing of the patriot Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, we will work even harder to ensure that Ahn Chang-ho’s achievements and his spirit of patriotism are passed down to future generations through this newly renovated memorial hall.”

Kim Jang-seong, executive director and CHO of LG Hausys, said, “Ahead of the 73rd anniversary of National Liberation, I feel a great sense of reward in being able to help refurbish this memorial hall that honors the patriotic spirit of the patriot Dosan Ahn Chang-ho,” adding, “Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement and the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, and we will expand our patriotic community-contribution activities so that its historical significance and spirit can be passed on to future generations.”

Meanwhile, since 2015 LG Hausys has been carrying out ‘renovation of memorial facilities’ and ‘improvement of the residential environments of persons of national merit’ as part of its patriotic community-contribution activities.

To date, it has renovated a total of seven independence-movement-related facilities—including the Provisional Government Building in Chongqing, China, the Seo Jae-pil Memorial Hall, the Maeheon Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, the Woodang Lee Hoe-yeong Memorial Hall, the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, the Manhae Memorial Hall, and the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall—and has supported home renovations for 14 persons of national merit and war veterans from Korea and abroad.
