LG Hausys building materials—including windows and doors, flooring, wallpaper, insulation, and synthetic wood—have been named Green Products of the Year by consumers.
LG Hausys announced that six of its products—Super Save windows and doors, Z:IN Sorijam flooring, the Z:IN Wallpaper series, building insulation, and Woozen Quick synthetic wood—were selected for the 'Consumer-Chosen 2018 Green Products of the Year' announced by the Green Purchasing Network Korea on July 17.
Two products—Z:IN Sorijam flooring and building insulation—were named for the fifth consecutive year, while three products—Super Save windows and doors, Z:IN Fresh & Fabric, and Woozen Quick synthetic wood—were named for the third consecutive year, proving they are eco-friendly products recognized by consumers.
The premium wallpaper 'Diamant,' launched this past May, was also selected as a Green Product of the Year for the first time, having demonstrated outstanding eco-friendliness by earning Korea's 'Environmental Labeling Certification' and a Grade 1 rating in the 'European textile product quality certification.' With this, every product in the Z:IN Wallpaper series has now been recognized as a green product.
In addition, Super Save windows and doors and building insulation received high marks for their energy-saving performance, while Woozen Quick synthetic wood was praised for its eco-friendliness and ease of installation.
In particular, Z:IN Sorijam won the 'Consumer-Chosen Popularity Award,' given to the product that receives the most consumer votes among those evaluated, in recognition of its eco-friendliness—not only its real-life impact-noise reduction function, but also its use of plant-derived ingredients in the surface layer and its minimization of harmful substances such as formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), and heavy metals.
Meanwhile, the 'Consumer-Chosen Green Products of the Year' is an annual award that the Green Purchasing Network Korea, a nonprofit organization, has held since 2008 to invigorate the green product market. This year, the green products were selected through a process that included expert review and evaluation by some 20 consumer and environmental organizations nationwide, a panel of about 200 consumers, and a consumer voting group.
Park Gwi-bong, Executive Director of LG Hausys's Décor Materials Business Division, said, "Recently, consumers' concerns about the safety and eco-friendliness of their living spaces have grown, and more consumers are actively verifying for themselves whether a product can be trusted," adding, "We will create healthy and safe living spaces with premium eco-friendly products that consumers trust."
