All of LG Hausys' directly-operated showrooms nationwide have been designated as 'Green Stores' by the Ministry of Environment, a first for the interior industry.

In connection with this, LG Hausys held a 'Green Store Plaque Unveiling Ceremony' on June 4 at 'Z:IN Square,' its flagship store located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with Nam Kwang-hee, President of the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, and Kim Myung-deuk, Vice President and Head of LG Hausys' Korea Sales Division, among those in attendance.

The LG Hausys showrooms newly designated as 'Green Stores' total 17 locations, including Z:IN Square and 16 directly-operated Z:IN showrooms nationwide. Until now, Green Store designations had gone mainly to department stores, large discount marts, and specialty organic retailers, but LG Hausys is the first interior-related showroom to be so designated.

The Ministry of Environment's 'Green Store' designation is awarded to stores that handle and expand green products and that contribute to encouraging customers' eco-friendly consumption and boosting green product sales through promotional and marketing activities. Designation follows a comprehensive evaluation covering factors such as the number of green product items and environmentally friendly store operations. Green products are products that reduce the emission of pollutants and greenhouse gases as well as the consumption of resources and energy throughout the entire manufacturing-to-disposal process, and they include eco-label products, excellent recycled products, and low-carbon certified products.

At Z:IN Square and its directly-operated showrooms nationwide, LG Hausys has showcased more than 100 eco-label-certified products—including high-insulation windows, eco-friendly flooring, and wallpaper—along with 14 low-carbon certified products, contributing to the growth of eco-friendly interior materials.

In addition, LG Hausys was designated a 'Green Store' after receiving high marks for its overall store operations, including setting up dedicated green product interior showrooms to actively introduce green products to consumers and even using green products for the consumables required to run the stores.

At the plaque unveiling ceremony that day, LG Hausys also demonstrated a system that allows customers to check green product information (a list of certified products, detailed status, etc.) for items displayed at Z:IN Square (windows, flooring, wallpaper, etc.) via QR codes attached to the products.

Vice President Kim Myung-deuk said, "This Green Store designation is the fruit of LG Hausys' efforts, which have led the way in developing eco-friendly products and creating eco-friendly spaces," adding, "Going forward, we will also build newly opened showrooms as eco-friendly spaces and ensure they continue to be designated as 'Green Stores,' so that consumers can experience LG Hausys' eco-friendly values at every customer touchpoint."

Meanwhile, LG Hausys operates 'Z:IN Square' and directly-operated showrooms nationwide. Starting with the 17 stores nationwide designated as Green Stores this time, the company plans to configure its upcoming directly-operated Z:IN showroom in Bucheon, as well as its Busan and Incheon locations slated for renewal openings, to meet Green Store standards as well.
