Boosting Production Capacity by More Than 55%

LG Hausys is expanding its building insulation production lines to take the lead in the high-performance insulation market, where products offer superior fire safety and thermal insulation.

LG Hausys announced that it has decided to invest a total of 119.4 billion won to expand its PF (phenolic foam) insulation production lines at its Cheongju factory in North Chungcheong Province.

The newly added No. 4 production line, with an annual production capacity of 11 million㎡, is scheduled for completion in March 2022. Once the expansion is complete, LG Hausys' total PF insulation production capacity will increase by more than 55% from the current output (19 million㎡) to 30 million㎡.

LG Hausys entered the high-performance insulation market in October 2013 when it became the first company in Korea to begin mass production of PF insulation. Following the expansion of its No. 2 line in May 2018 and its No. 3 line in May of this year, the company is now moving directly ahead with this investment to expand its No. 4 line, working to secure a stable supply base.

Park Gwi-bong, Executive Vice President and head of LG Hausys' Decorative Materials Division, said, "PF insulation is a product recognized in the global market for its insulation performance and fire safety, and its supply is expanding overseas in markets such as the U.K., Japan, Australia, and North America. By expanding the supply of high-performance insulation, we will contribute to improving the fire safety and thermal insulation performance of buildings in Korea."

Meanwhile, LG Hausys announced that its Zea Sorijam flooring, Zea Wallpaper series, Super Save windows and doors, and building insulation were selected for the '2020 Korea Green Products of the Year' announced by the Korea Green Purchasing Network. Since 2014, when it became the first company in the building materials industry to have major products such as flooring and wallpaper selected as Green Products of the Year chosen directly by consumers, LG Hausys has now been selected for seven consecutive years, once again proving itself to be a leading eco-friendly building materials company in Korea.
