LG Hausys has won the ‘2018 IDEA Design Award’ with ‘Z:IN Wallpaper DIAMANT,’ which combines three-dimensional design with eco-friendliness.

In connection with this, LG Hausys announced on the 4th that its Z:IN Wallpaper DIAMANT was selected as an award winner in the ‘Home category’ at the ‘2018 IDEA Design Award’ hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

The ‘IDEA Design Award’ is one of the international design competitions regarded as one of the world’s three major design awards alongside the ‘iF Design Award’ and the ‘Red Dot Design Award,’ and it selects winners based on criteria such as design innovation, social responsibility, and user experience.

‘DIAMANT’ received high marks in terms of design innovation because the embossing depth on the product surface is twice as deep as that of conventional wallpaper, enabling the implementation of delicate yet three-dimensional patterns, while its lighter weight also improves installation convenience.

In particular, it earned good scores in terms of social responsibility for its eco-friendliness, having obtained the highest Class 1 (Baby Class) rating of the ‘Oeko-Tex’ European textile product quality certification by applying corn-derived components to the wallpaper surface that comes into contact with the skin. (Content of corn-derived PLA in the surface coating layer: 8–12%)

In addition, it received excellent scores in the user experience category for applying wallpaper surface reinforcement technology to achieve a firm surface texture, securing durability that is strong even against scratches.

The ‘European textile product quality certification,’ an eco-friendly certification standard, is administered by the Oeko-Tex Association to evaluate the harmlessness of products that come into contact with the skin, such as clothing, bedding, toys, and interior materials. Class 1, the highest of the four grades, is a strict standard granted only to products that are safe even when in contact with the skin of infants under three years of age.

Meanwhile, since its launch in 2009, LG Hausys has produced a total of 52 award-winning works at major overseas design awards, including the IDEA Design Award, iF Design Award, and Red Dot Design Award, through this year, gaining recognition for its world-class design competitiveness on the international stage.

Earlier this year, in the first half, it also won the ‘2018 iF Design Award’ with the ‘Hidden Display Handle,’ a window handle incorporating IoT technology.
