First Completion Ceremony Held at Group Home ‘Namuya’ in Seoul

Provides Windows, Flooring, Wallpaper, Doors and More for a Pleasant, Safe Space

LX Hausys is newly launching a “Group Home (communal living home) Living Environment Improvement Support Program” to help children and adolescents in need of care grow up in more pleasant and safe surroundings.

In connection with this, on July 29, LX Hausys held the “LX Hausys 2024 First Group Home Remodeling Completion Ceremony” at the group home ‘Namuya’ in Seoul, attended by LX Hausys President Han Myung-ho, Habitat for Humanity Korea Secretary General Lee Kwang-hoe, and ‘Namuya’ facility director Kim Sang-hee, among others. A group home is a small-scale child protection facility operated in an apartment or multi-household house to help children and adolescents in need of care grow up safely and eventually become independent. Around 500 such facilities are currently in operation nationwide, and while many group homes have become dilapidated, they struggle to carry out repairs and improvements due to cost issues. In response, LX Hausys has decided to team up this year with Habitat for Humanity Korea and the Korea Association of Child & Youth Group Homes (Seoul Metropolitan Children’s Communal Living Home Support Center) to carry out the “Group Home Living Environment Improvement Support Program,” and selected the group home ‘Namuya’ as its first recipient in consideration of the urgency of the repair work.

The group home ‘Namuya’ is a 189㎡ (57 pyeong) detached house where four children and adolescents currently reside. In particular, the second-floor space where the children mainly live suffered from severe leaks, making repairs urgently needed. From early July, LX Hausys carried out extensive renovation work over about three weeks, providing windows, flooring, wallpaper, doors, interior film and more. Through this, ‘Namuya’ took on a bright and tidy atmosphere and was transformed into a warmer, more pleasant space. At the completion ceremony, LX Hausys President Han Myung-ho said, “I hope this improvement work makes ‘Namuya’ an even warmer home for the children living here,” adding, “We will continue to provide support so that adolescents—the leaders of the future—can grow up in more pleasant and safe spaces and nurture their dreams.”

‘Namuya’ facility director Kim Sang-hee said, “I am glad and grateful that, thanks to LX Hausys’s support, the space where the children live has been transformed into a cozy and pleasant space.”

Meanwhile, since 2010 LX Hausys has been carrying out its “Creating Happy Spaces” initiative to improve the environments of run-down community children’s centers and youth protection facilities, and as part of this it plans to continue its social-contribution activities supporting the improvement of living environments at aging group homes.
