First Completion Ceremony Held at Seoul-Based Group Home ‘Namuya’

Support for Windows, Flooring, Wallpaper, Doors and More for a Comfortable, Safe Space

LX Hausys is newly launching a ‘Group Home (communal living home) Living Environment Improvement Support Program’ to help children and adolescents in need of care grow up in a more comfortable and safe environment.

In connection with this, on July 29, LX Hausys held the ‘LX Hausys 2024 First Group Home Remodeling Completion Ceremony’ at the Seoul-based group home ‘Namuya,’ attended by LX Hausys President Han Myung-ho, Habitat for Humanity Korea Secretary General Lee Kwang-hoe, and ‘Namuya’ facility director Kim Sang-hee, among others. A group home is a small-scale child protection facility operated in an apartment or multi-household house to help children and adolescents in need of care grow up safely and eventually become independent. About 500 such homes are currently in operation nationwide, and while many have deteriorated with age, they face difficulties in repairing and renovating their facilities due to cost issues. In response, LX Hausys decided to launch the ‘Group Home Living Environment Improvement Support Program’ this year in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Korea and the Korea Association of Child and Youth Group Homes (Seoul Metropolitan Government Child Communal Living Home Support Center), and, in consideration of the urgency of repair work, selected group home ‘Namuya’ as its first recipient.

Group home ‘Namuya’ is a 189㎡ (57 pyeong) detached house currently home to four children and adolescents. In particular, the second-floor space where the children primarily live had severe water leakage, making renovation work urgent. From early July, over a period of about three weeks, LX Hausys carried out extensive renovation work by providing windows, flooring, wallpaper, doors, interior film and more. Through this, ‘Namuya’ was transformed not only into a bright and clean space but also into a warmer and more comfortable one. At the completion ceremony, LX Hausys President Han Myung-ho said, “I hope this improvement project makes ‘Namuya’ an even warmer home for the children who live here,” adding, “We will continue to provide support so that these young people—the leaders of the future—can grow up in more comfortable and safe spaces and nurture their dreams.”

Kim Sang-hee, facility director of group home ‘Namuya,’ said, “I am glad and grateful that, thanks to LX Hausys’ support, the space where the children live has been transformed into a cozy and comfortable one.”

Meanwhile, since 2010, LX Hausys has been carrying out its ‘Creating Happy Spaces’ program to improve the environments of aging local children’s centers and youth protection facilities, and as part of this it plans to continue its social contribution activities supporting the improvement of living environments at aging group homes.
