Publishes ESG Report Covering ESG Management Performance, Carbon-Neutral Roadmap and More
Establishes Three Mid- to Long-Term Strategic Directions, Unveils '2050 Carbon-Neutral Roadmap'
LX Hausys has published its 12th ESG report (sustainability management report), covering its newly established 'ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Vision,' its '2050 Carbon-Neutral Roadmap,' and key ESG management achievements from last year.
First, the ESG vision presented by LX Hausys is 'Innovation for Customers, ESG for the future,' reflecting the company's commitment to continuing relentless innovation and sustainable growth that leads the interior industry.
To realize this ESG vision, LX Hausys has presented three mid- to long-term strategic directions — ▲Eco-friendly (Caring for the Environment) ▲Shared value (Advancing Together with Stakeholders) ▲Good governance (Walking the Right Path) — and plans to establish and pursue detailed strategic tasks based on them.
In addition, through this report, LX Hausys unveiled its '2050 Carbon-Neutral Roadmap,' which calls for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% versus projected levels in 2030 and achieving 'Net Zero' in 2050. To this end, the company plans to pursue carbon reduction at its business sites, the use of new and renewable energy, and the expansion of eco-friendly products.
Alongside this, LX Hausys also introduced its key achievements in each ESG area last year. In the environmental area, thanks to facility improvements and energy-consumption management activities, LX Hausys reduced its greenhouse gas emissions last year (118,741 tons) by about 10% compared with the previous year (131,287 tons). This is the lowest figure since the company began disclosing its emissions with the publication of its first ESG report in 2012.
In the social area, the company strengthened shared-growth activities, including doubling the amount of support provided to partner companies for facility investment and technology development aimed at improving productivity compared with the previous year. It also carried out social contribution activities such as donating interior materials to vulnerable groups through a residential environment improvement project with the Ministry of Environment.
In the governance area, following the establishment last year of the 'ESG Committee,' the highest deliberative body for ESG management within the board of directors, the company strengthened its operating organization — including forming a working-level consultative body of 28 teams from relevant departments — and began building a full-fledged ESG management system.
Thanks to these activities, LX Hausys has earned an integrated grade of A for seven consecutive years through this year in the ESG evaluation conducted by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability. LX Hausys is the only company in Korea's interior industry to have earned an integrated grade of A or higher for seven consecutive years.
An LX Hausys official said, "Since publishing the interior industry's first ESG report in 2012, we have released our 12th report this year and communicated transparently with a wide range of stakeholders," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to pursue ESG management that leads the interior industry."
