First ‘ISCC PLUS’ Certification in Korea’s Materials Industry
Sequential Production of Windows and Flooring Applying ‘Bio-Balanced PVC’
LX Hausys has become the first company in Korea’s building materials industry to obtain ‘ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification PLUS)’ certification, a global certification for sustainable and eco-friendly materials.
LX Hausys announced that it earned the certification in recognition of its Cheongju plant’s achievement in developing production technology that replaces the petrochemical-based PVC (polyvinyl chloride) raw material used in windows and flooring products with ‘Bio-Balanced PVC.’
‘ISCC PLUS’ certification is a global certification system that verifies the use of eco-friendly raw materials throughout the entire product manufacturing process across a wide range of industries such as chemicals and food, in line with the European Union’s (EU) ‘Circular Economy Action Plan’ policy.
LX Hausys met the ISCC association’s stringent standards in terms of sustainability and the use of eco-friendly materials with its production process technology for window profiles (window frames) and flooring that applies ‘Bio-Balanced PVC’ derived from plant-based raw materials such as waste cooking oil and palm byproducts.
Building on its ‘ISCC PLUS’ certification, LX Hausys plans to sequentially produce windows and flooring products made with ‘Bio-Balanced PVC’ raw material in line with market demand.
Meanwhile, in relation to securing this raw material, LX Hausys previously signed a ‘comprehensive business agreement for cooperation in the Bio-Balanced PVC business’ with LG Chem.
