Develops Ganjeolgot Visitor Center
KG Steel has newly developed the Ganjeolgot Visitor Center by applying ‘X-TONE,’ its premium color-coated steel sheet brand.
Carried out as the ‘Ganjeolru’ project within Ganjeolgot, a leading tourist destination in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, this space—designed and built with ‘X-TONE’—was created as a cultural resting place for local visitors and as a new landmark for the renowned sunrise-viewing spot. The distinctive, sophisticated colors and outstanding durability of ‘X-TONE’ have brought vitality to the building’s exterior, offering both domestic and international tourists visiting Ganjeolgot a more pleasant and refined space. Carried out in collaboration with Professor Kim Beom-gwan of the College of Design and Architecture Convergence at the University of Ulsan, the Ganjeolru project is centered on a curved roof that embodies the ‘rising sun’ and an exterior design that reflects the warm colors of sunrise. By realizing an architectural beauty that blends naturally with the scenic coastline through ‘X-TONE,’ the symbolism of Ganjeolgot—where the first light of dawn is welcomed—was naturally embodied in the building. ‘X-TONE,’ used as the exterior cladding for this project, is a highly weather-resistant fluorine aluminum steel sheet manufactured with the climate characteristics of coastal areas in mind, featuring strong resistance to discoloration and corrosion even against strong sea breezes and salt. In particular, unlike color-coated steel sheets that are generally produced in only a single color, KG Steel used its own proprietary technology to realize a combination of seven colors, further enhancing the three-dimensional feel of the exterior and the completeness of the design.
A KG Steel official said, “This Ulsan sunrise-landmark project is a case in which the visual characteristics and functional conditions demanded by the architect were perfectly realized through advanced technology and design,” adding, “As a ‘planning-type product’ partner that completes customers’ design intentions together with them, we plan to continue expanding the application areas of ‘X-TONE.’”
