POSCO E&C to Hold Event at The Sharp Gallery in Gangnam-gu on August 27
Residential Space Floor Plan Concept ‘The Home Curator’

To mark its 30th anniversary this year, POSCO E&C will hold a presentation titled ‘Tomorrow's Residential Space Strategy and Floor Plan’ at 3 p.m. on August 27 at The Sharp Gallery, located in Jagok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The Sharp is POSCO E&C's apartment brand, launched in 2002, and through continuous floor plan development it applies a diverse range of products that respond to consumer needs and changing trends.
This year, in particular, the company has developed floor plans based on a new paradigm designed to accommodate increasingly diversified future lifestyles alongside socio-demographic changes such as an aging population and declining birth rates. Through this presentation, POSCO E&C aims to convey its vision and create an opportunity to communicate with consumers.
The first session will feature future residential space trends proposed by Professor Yoo Hyun-joon of the Department of Architecture at Hongik University, who collaborated on this floor plan development, while the second session will present in earnest POSCO E&C's strategy for tomorrow's residential spaces along with its new floor plans. This floor plan development derived key development insights through in-depth, phased research to analyze lifestyles and identify consumer needs, and carried out comprehensive verification of the floor plans. In addition, rather than limiting the future family structure to the conventional three- to four-person family of parents and children, it took into account a variety of family structures and the accompanying changes in lifestyle—including the rapidly growing one- to two-person households such as singles, DINKs, and active seniors, as well as three-generation cohabitation. The resulting concept for POSCO E&C's residential spaces of tomorrow is ‘The Home Curator,’ which carries the meaning of ‘a space that transforms just for me.’ A curator refers to the person who plans and manages all exhibitions at an art gallery or museum, and the term encapsulates POSCO E&C's proposal for a flexible space that residents themselves can proactively transform as its owner. The developed floor plans are planned to be unveiled as new layouts that consider consumers' actual lifestyles, breaking away from the fixed conventions of existing apartments such as south-facing orientation and slab-type structures. They also include structural methods to achieve spatial flexibility and floor plans that remain sustainable across multiple generations, as well as space proposals for a healthy life and rest enjoyed within the home, with a focus on ‘Wellness’—which combines well-being and fitness, a keyword that has recently emerged across all industries.
Furthermore, this event will feature an eco-friendly customizing name tag-making activity called ‘Wappen My Way’ (Naemam-daero Wappen), held together with Pleats Mama, which has developed eco-friendly specialized fabrics in collaboration with POSCO E&C since 2023. Through this, the company expects not only to raise consumer awareness of resource-circulating materials but also to once again effectively convey the direction of this new floor plan development, given that participants can freely compose their own emblem (Wappen). Anticipation is high for POSCO E&C's new proposal for tomorrow's residential spaces—evolved to a new dimension in step with ever-changing consumers. Participation in the presentation is available through Naver advance reservation in August.
