Chokwang Paint Co., Ltd. has launched 'Ecophile', an eco-friendly, water-based, high-performance paint that, for the first time in Korea, general consumers can easily purchase and apply themselves.
With the launch of the water-based 'Ecophile', Chokwang Paint becomes the first company in Korea to offer both industrial paint lineups — 'two-component urethane' and 'one-component acrylic' — and consumers can now easily purchase and apply high-performance paint in the color and volume they want.
'Ecophile' is Chokwang Paint's flagship eco-friendly, industrial, water-based paint brand — a versatile paint used primarily in industrial and manufacturing facilities that produce trains, automobiles, machinery, home appliances and the like. It is free of heavy metals and BTX (benzene, toluene, xylene), and its advantages include low levels of volatile organic compounds harmful to the human body and little odor. In particular, 'Ecophile' has been applied to European railway vehicles and others — a market with high entry barriers due to stringent standards for eco-friendliness and durability — earning recognition in the European market as well.
Industrial coatings, used mainly in industrial production facilities, form a market centered on B2B (business-to-business) transactions, and because products are manufactured only through custom orders, small-quantity purchases have been difficult; moreover, the high cost of raw materials made the products expensive and hard for small businesses to buy.
