Kukka Daepyo is drawing industry attention with the launch of its new 'Air Board' product, designed to prevent flooring damage problems (mold, floor damage, discoloration, foreign matter intrusion, etc.) that occur when air cannot circulate beneath an installed mat.
As cases of installing mats in the home for the safety of seniors and infants and for inter-floor noise have recently been increasing, many consumers are experiencing damage, staining, and discoloration of the flooring caused by foreign matter, moisture, and heat trapped between the existing flooring and the installed mat, leading to growing consumer complaints. Explaining the background of the launch, Kukka Daepyo said, "We determined that ultimately air must circulate during mat installation in order to protect the existing flooring, and so we developed Air Board, an elastic flooring with an air-circulation structure."
The new 'Air Board' adopts a pillar-type structure with outstanding shock dispersion and absorption, and its design incorporating dual material properties delivers optimal cushioning. In addition, its fine cushion balls and cushion pillar structure minimize contact with the floor to a level of 2%, preventing staining or discoloration of the existing flooring, and it is designed so that air circulates in response to changes in the lower structure as one walks on the 'Air Board.' Furthermore, a foreign-matter flow-prevention ridge structure is formed at the connecting joints of the 'Air Board' to minimize foreign matter penetrating to the floor, and a 'T'-shaped connector delivers a firm bond. The Air Guard, which joins the 'Air Board' to the wall surface, serves as an inlet and outlet for lower air, preventing mold and discoloration by releasing moisture and heat from the existing flooring, and acts as a wall cushion to prevent wall resonance. In a floor impact sound test conducted in a newly built apartment, Kukka Daepyo achieved a heavy-weight impact sound of at least 40 dB through the combination of 'Air Board' and a TPU mat, among others.
A Kukka Daepyo official said, "By using a TPU mat as well as roll mats, folder mats, and other cushioning materials together on top of the Air Board to suit the characteristics of the household, you can reduce concerns about flooring damage and gain the effect of dispersing and reducing heavy-weight impact."
