IKEA has launched a limited-edition collection created in collaboration with Swedish designer Gustaf Westman, debuting it in Korea ahead of the rest of the world.
IKEA joined hands with Gustaf Westman to add a distinctive touch to its winter collection, which is released each year around themes such as Christmas and the year-end holidays. Through this collection, Gustaf Westman presents his first design collaboration launched together with another brand. Westman's signature sculptural forms and use of color are reflected in this collection as well. Rather than being confined to holidays such as Christmas, it expresses a tradition of celebrating and commemorating every moment. The collection comprises 12 products, including ▲plates ▲a dedicated meatball plate ▲a cup set ▲candle holders. IKEA explained that these products, built around themes of expressive contrast and light, emphasize the meaning of sharing food and spending time with loved ones.
Maria O'Brien, Creative Leader at IKEA's Product Development and Supply headquarters, said, “I am delighted that we were able to present something so appealing through Gustaf Westman's approach to color and form.” Designer Gustaf Westman added, “Through this collaboration, I wanted to reinterpret the aesthetics of the traditional year-end atmosphere and express a playful, bold mood,” emphasizing, “The vision of the holiday season interpreted in my own style will become a new design for a new generation.”
Meanwhile, the limited-edition collection born from the collaboration between IKEA and Gustaf Westman can be found at all IKEA Korea stores, the official IKEA Korea online mall (www.ikea.com/kr/ko) and app, and the Hey remote order phone service. 1670-4532
