The greatest weakness of hardwood flooring is known to be 'moisture.' When moisture seeps in through the seams between floorboards, causing the flooring to rot or the surface of the boards to become damaged, even partial replacement is difficult—making the choice of hardwood flooring a burdensome one for consumers.
Amid this, Shinmyung Maru is drawing attention by unveiling 'CASCADA,' a PARQUET flooring product resistant to everyday moisture, released by the Belgian eco-friendly flooring brand Quick-Step. The Quick-Step products from Belgium's UNILIN, which Shinmyung Maru exclusively imports and distributes, are renowned as eco-friendly products holding numerous quality certifications. With convenient functionality for everyday use and durability that keeps them clean for a long time, they are flooring materials that can be used with confidence in both residential and commercial spaces.
Quick-Step products consist of hybrid flooring, parquet flooring, and Alpha Vinyl (LVT), and among these, the parquet flooring is the first hardwood flooring to offer resistance to everyday moisture. Under the slogan 'Wood For Life,' the 'Easy To Clean' method and 'Surface & Edge Protect+' technology are applied to protect both the surface and the sides of the flooring from dust and contaminants.
The newly released CASCADA is the world's first hardwood flooring to offer waterproofing upgraded even further beyond the existing parquet flooring's resistance to everyday moisture. With its outstanding waterproofing performance, discoloration at the floor seams rarely occurs, allowing the flooring to be used and maintained cleanly for a long time.
Kwon Hyuk-tae, CEO of Shinmyung Maru, said, "CASCADA is an innovative hardwood flooring that changes the notion that hardwood floors are difficult to maintain, and it will also be a great choice for consumers who suffer from dust-related allergies, atopic dermatitis, and the like." He added, "Because consumers should not feel burdened when choosing flooring, the functionality of the flooring is a very important aspect."
Meanwhile, Shinmyung Maru was recently recognized for its significant contribution to Korea's architectural culture industry through Quick-Step products, receiving a Commendation from the President of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects at the '2023 Korea Architecture Festival (KAFF 2023).' Participating in the Korea Architecture Festival, Shinmyung Maru showcased outstanding durability and near-perfect scratch-resistance technology, demonstrating its superior surface-strength technology by roller-skating directly on the flooring at the exhibition hall. In addition, it set up a water tank where visitors could see the 100% waterproofing technology of the flooring surface with their own eyes, as well as a corner where visitors could experience assembling the flooring themselves using the world-patented Uniclic system—allowing visitors to confirm the flooring's excellent functionality firsthand. 02-537-6875
