'Neolith' is a natural ceramic panel manufactured by Spain's TheSize Surfaces. Since its launch in 2010, it has been an interior and exterior material that has created an innovative impact in the fields of architecture and interior design. Neolith is a product that boasts large sizes with minimal thickness, offering physical and mechanical characteristics unprecedented in the architectural world. It is ideal for countless indoor and outdoor uses in commercial and residential spaces — such as flooring, walls, countertops, exterior walls, facades, and furniture — and can be applied to almost any use imaginable.
Neolith is created through an innovative production process that uses the finest raw materials and a state-of-the-art technology known as the sintering process. The sintering process technique replicates, within a few hours, the process by which nature creates stone over thousands of years. In this process, high pressure and temperature are applied to carefully selected raw materials. In the first stage, the combined raw materials pass through a press that applies pressure of up to 400 bar. In the second stage, the panels pass through a kiln where they are fired at temperatures exceeding 1,200℃. Through this process, a maximally compressed, decorative Full Body surface is born. Afterwards, the innovative digital printing technology known as NDD (Neolith Digital Design) creates surface designs with delicate and rich detail.
Neolith's carefully selected raw materials consist of 100% natural materials based on quartz and feldspar, which provide the product's durability and strength; glass and silica, which provide chemical stability; and natural oxides, which contribute to the color properties. While ordinary ceramics may have characteristics similar to Neolith on an individual basis, they do not offer all of the unique properties exclusive to Neolith, such as strong resistance to stains, chemicals, scratches, or heat. Although materials of similar origin may exist, the raw materials used to produce Neolith are refined materials of higher quality than the raw materials of conventional products, thereby ensuring a more uniform product.
Neolith's key features include impermeability, scratch resistance, high-temperature resistance, easy cleaning, and hygiene. Neolith does not allow liquids to penetrate, providing an almost perfect level of waterproofing. In addition, thanks to its strong surface properties, it has high resistance to scratches and abrasion; it does not burn even when in contact with fire, and it does not emit smoke or harmful substances even when exposed to high temperatures. It has excellent resistance to all types of chemical detergents, and it can safely come into contact with food without emitting harmful substances (NSF certified). Furthermore, as a 100% natural material, its color does not change even when exposed to sunlight or extreme climates. Each panel uses up to 52% recycled material and is 100% recyclable.
Thickness is one of the most important factors that make Neolith outstanding, and it is the only product in the relevant market to offer four different thicknesses. The various thicknesses, ranging from 3 mm to 20 mm, determine which thickness is used depending on where it is to be installed. The 3 mm thickness is applied to interior walls or furniture surfaces; the 6 mm thickness can be installed on interior or exterior walls (ventilated facades); and the 12 mm and 20 mm thicknesses can be used in the most demanding environments, such as kitchen sink counters. The main dimensions for the large-format products are 3600×1200 mm, 3200×1500 mm, 3200×1600 mm, 2600×1200 mm, and 2600×1500 mm, while the main dimensions for the tile products are 1500×1500 mm, 1500×750 mm, 750×750 mm, 1200×1200 mm, 1200×600 mm, 600×600 mm, and 600×300 mm.
