Noroo Paint is targeting the waterproofing materials market with its rooftop waterproofing product 'Eco Cleantan,' timed to the summer rainy season.
The rooftop waterproofing product 'Eco Cleantan' is an eco-friendly urethane product that does not use the four major hazardous heavy metals—hexavalent chromium compounds, lead, cadmium, and mercury—nor the six major phthalates, nor 4,4'-methylenebis(2-chloroaniline) (hereinafter MOCA), which is classified as a toxic substance. Since its launch last year, it has been receiving a favorable response in the waterproofing materials market.
'Eco Cleantan' has physical properties that exceed the Korean Industrial Standards (KS) certification criteria, and it has obtained KS F 3211 Urethane Rubber-based Class 1 certification—the category for construction membrane waterproofing materials—as well as the eco-friendly mark from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment, making it an environmentally friendly product.
Beginning in June, the peak season for rooftop waterproofing coatings, Noroo Paint is strengthening its 'Eco Cleantan' marketing to prevent environmental pollution caused by the release of hazardous substances and to minimize harm to consumers and technicians from the proliferation of low-grade products.
Accordingly, Noroo Paint is holding product seminars for painting contractors to promote the product's superior quality, and on Noroo Paint's YouTube channel 'Paint It Suda,' it is also featuring videos in which Noroo Paint's technical researchers show consumers rooftop waterproofing construction methods using 'Eco Cleantan.'
In particular, with the grace period for the 'Ministry of Environment Notice on the Designation of MOCA as a Restricted Substance' set to end this coming August, the sale, storage, keeping, and transport of products containing MOCA at ordinary paint retailers will be restricted. As 'Eco Cleantan' is a product free from the Ministry of Environment's regulations, the company is intensively promoting this point to the market.
A Noroo Paint official said, "Since this past June, when rainy-season preparations can be made in very suitable construction conditions with high temperatures and low humidity, sales of waterproofing materials have expanded significantly," adding, "With Eco Cleantan at the forefront, we will lead the domestic waterproofing materials market, which is worth approximately 250 billion won." 031-467-6114
