Dongwha Natural Flooring (CEO Kim Hong-jin), the building-materials brand of Dongwha Enterprise, has relaunched its wood wall panel ‘Design Wall.’

With this relaunch, Dongwha Enterprise introduced new patterns such as terrazzo and lime plaster, which are gaining popularity primarily across Europe, and unveiled two new concepts—‘Calm’ and ‘Glam’—by linking the mood of a space with the product patterns.

The newly launched terrazzo pattern reproduces the look created when marble is finely crushed and mixed with cement, and Dongwha Enterprise is the first in the wood building-materials industry to adopt it. The product surface uses a three-dimensional patterning technique to render the textures of various materials more realistically. When choosing the product, consumers can preserve the very textures of terrazzo, marble, and lime plaster to create a sophisticated atmosphere at a reasonable price.

The ‘Calm’ and ‘Glam’ concepts newly applied to the Design Wall products were developed by the Dongwha Design Center through an analysis of consumer lifestyles and the latest trends. As the ‘concepting’ consumption trend—which values the emotion a product expresses over the product itself—has recently been spreading, Dongwha Enterprise adopted the concept approach and reorganized its product lineup. The ‘Calm’ concept, referring to a cozy space for taking a rest, consists of 10 varieties including fabric, wood, and lime plaster patterns, while the ‘Glam’ concept, suited to creating a luxurious space, consists of 22 splendid patterns such as terrazzo and marble.

In addition, ‘Design Wall’ is an eco-friendly interior material that has passed the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s health-friendly housing construction standards. Because it uses eco-friendly E0-grade Dongwha Eco Board, made solely from 100% domestic pine as its raw material, even young children with sensitive skin can use it with peace of mind. Moreover, unlike other wall interior materials that use adhesives, it employs an assembly-type installation method that requires no adhesive, so there is no concern about harmful substances.

Its functionality is also outstanding. Because the wall panel surface is given a high-strength special coating, it is highly resistant to dents, scratches, and staining and is easy to clean; scribbles on the wall or splattered food can be easily wiped off, and since it does not stain easily, it can be used semi-permanently—another advantage. In addition, a flame-retardant function that delays the spread of flames and toxic gases in the event of a fire can also be added as an option when selecting the product.

Kim Sung-hee, head of Dongwha Enterprise’s design team, said, “In the interior market too, the concepting consumption trend that values the mood of a space over the product itself is taking hold,” adding, “Dongwha Enterprise will continue to present eco-friendly, high-performance wood wall panel products with tasteful designs that can create differentiated spatial atmospheres.”

Meanwhile, to mark this Design Wall relaunch, Dongwha Enterprise also released a product catalog that lets customers see installation examples by concept at a glance, strengthening its marketing. The product catalog can be viewed on the Dongwha Natural Flooring official website (www.greendongwha.com).
