Dongwha Natural Flooring (CEO Kim Hong-jin), the building-materials brand of Dongwha Enterprise, has relaunched ‘Design Wall,’ its wood-based wall paneling.
With this renewal, Dongwha Enterprise has introduced new patterns such as terrazzo and lime plaster, which are gaining popularity mainly in Europe, and has newly unveiled two concepts—‘Calm’ and ‘Glam’—that link the mood of a space with the product’s pattern.
The newly launched terrazzo pattern is the design created when marble is finely crushed and mixed with cement, and Dongwha Enterprise is the first in the wood-based building-materials industry to introduce it. The product surface uses a three-dimensional patterning technique to render the textures of various materials more realistically. When choosing the product, consumers can preserve the textures of terrazzo, marble, and lime plaster just as they are, creating a luxurious atmosphere at a reasonable price.
The ‘Calm’ and ‘Glam’ concepts newly applied to Design Wall products were derived by the Dongwha Design Center through an analysis of consumer lifestyles and the latest trends. As the ‘concepting’ consumption trend—which values the emotion a product expresses over the product itself—has recently been spreading, Dongwha Enterprise introduced the concept approach to reorganize its product lineup. The ‘Calm’ concept, meaning a cozy space in which to relax, is made up of 10 types including fabric, wood, and lime-plaster patterns, while the ‘Glam’ concept, suited to creating a luxurious space, is made up of 22 splendid patterns such as terrazzo and marble.
Its functionality is outstanding as well. Because the surface of the paneling is given a high-strength special coating, it is highly resistant to dents, scratches, and staining and is easy to clean; moreover, even if the wall is scribbled on or food is splattered, it can be wiped off easily, and it does not soil readily, so it can be used semi-permanently. In addition, a flame-retardant function that delays the spread of flames and toxic gases in the event of a fire can be added as an option when selecting the product. 1899-2837
