Royal Copenhagen, the Danish royal porcelain brand with 246 years of heritage, is launching in Korea the ‘Flora Danica Queen's Gift’ set—a gift originally presented to mark the 80th birthday of the Queen of Denmark, drawn from ‘Flora Danica,’ a collection prized as both a treasure and a cultural heritage of the Danish royal court.

Meaning “Danish flora” (a botanical atlas of Denmark), ‘Flora Danica’ is a noble porcelain collection whose history dates back to 1790, when the Danish royal court first commissioned Royal Copenhagen to create it as a gift for Empress Catherine II of Russia, and it has continued ever since. It is a supreme masterpiece that faithfully renders onto porcelain, through meticulous handwork, the more than 3,000 species of flowers and ferns and the detailed illustrations recorded in the Danish botanical atlas, and it stands as the top-tier line embodying Royal Copenhagen's craftsmanship. Even today, Flora Danica is used as official tableware by the Danish royal court; every piece is hand-shaped and completed with hand-painting by skilled Danish artisans who carry on traditional methods from 230 years ago, imbuing each with artistic value.

The new ‘Flora Danica Queen's Gift’ is distinguished by carefully chosen flowers, painted to convey their meaning for Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. The teapot is adorned with wild pansies, symbolizing “modesty and dignity,” while the teacups display the daisy—signifying “purity, innocence, and true love,” and also the Queen's nickname—alongside the forget-me-not, which stands for “hope and remembrance.” These three flowers pay tribute to the life and achievements of the Queen of Denmark.

Offered in Korea in a limited quantity, the Flora Danica Queen's Gift brings into beautiful harmony vivid colors that make the floral motifs seem to come alive, forms of refined elegance, and splendid gold-rim decoration. It is composed as a new mini tea set, smaller than the existing Flora Danica teapot and teacups, and, just like the gift presented to the Queen of Denmark, it includes one teapot and two teacups packaged in an elegant gift box. 02-749-2002
