As a wide variety of finishing materials enters the interior design market, the 'Mimmetic Stone Board'—which captures both functionality and design—is heralding a revolution in the finishing materials market.

INMOK Co., Ltd. (CEO Seok Jung-gi), Korea's largest company specializing in wood veneer, unveiled its Digital Printing Paper 'Mimmetic' in the first half of this year, and has now followed it up with the 'Mimmetic Stone Board,' which applies printed pattern paper that looks more real than reality onto a board that is resistant to both water and fire.

The greatest advantage of the Mimmetic Stone Board is the water resistance and non-combustibility inherent to the stone board itself. The stone board is a product made by processing fiber—extracted by burning rock—with heat and pressure, and because it retains the very characteristics of rock, it is resistant to water and fire. Even after prolonged exposure to moisture, it does not swell or warp, and it offers semi-permanent durability. As a non-combustible material that does not burn in the event of a fire, it also boasts outstanding fire-resistance performance.

In particular, the Mimmetic Stone Board achieves a realism more genuine than the genuine article by heat-bonding the Digital Printing Paper 'Mimmetic'—printed at a resolution of 1200 dpi—under high temperature and high pressure. Mimmetic is the world's first specialized digital printing brand, having signed an exclusive sales agreement with Spain's Losan Group, a world-class wood specialist. It digitally prints the entire image of the subject, delivering realism so exceptional that actual wood, stone, and textiles are difficult to distinguish from the real thing. With its wide-format patterns that flow naturally without repetition, it is also effective for finishing large-area spaces.

The Mimmetic Stone Board meets semi-non-combustible performance standards by bonding Mimmetic pattern paper impregnated with thermosetting resin onto a water-resistant, non-combustible stone board. As a result, it can be applied to any space—including multi-use facilities, educational facilities, and public institutions—and its simple dry-construction method makes it effective in reducing construction costs. Produced in a standard board size of 1220×2440×8 mm, it can also significantly shorten installation time. It is supplied in various sizes and thicknesses upon customer request, and based on its long-standing expertise in wood veneer processing, the company has differentiated it from similar board materials through post-processing work such as edge banding and sealing.

In addition, because it does not absorb water, there is no decay caused by mold or fungi, so it can be applied even in moisture-prone areas such as bathrooms, verandas, and balconies. As an eco-friendly material that emits virtually no harmful substances such as radon and TVOCs, it can be used with peace of mind. It also offers the benefit of replacing tiles in residential and commercial spaces. With reasonable product and installation costs, the Mimmetic Stone Board can replace ceramic tiles and be installed as bathroom material, feature walls, wall material, kitchen wall material, and flooring. In particular, it can be applied—with an added design effect—to fire-sensitive areas such as dry pipe ducts (PD) and water-barrier walls installed in ordinary buildings and apartments.

Seok Jung-gi, CEO of INMOK Co., Ltd., explained, "The Mimmetic Stone Board is a non-combustible, eco-friendly material that meets the needs of an era of upcycling discarded byproducts in the age of carbon neutrality. Combined with high-resolution printed pattern paper, it has transformed into a next-generation product that will change the landscape of the interior and building materials market—including wall paneling, bathroom materials, and flooring." He added, "With its functionality and design, as well as its reasonable price and easy installation, the product can be used in a wide range of ways by construction companies, interior design firms, and even general consumers." INMOK is also developing the Mimmetic Stone Board as an exterior material and is building an online marketplace where end consumers can purchase it directly. 032-819-2440 www.mimmetic.kr
