Maltani (co-CEOs Lee Se-yong and Lee Jong-min), an LED lighting company, is launching an LED ceiling light that doubles as an air purifier.

With fine dust emerging as a social problem and the air purifier market expanding, the company set out to collaborate lighting with air purification. Maltani recently partnered with an air purifier specialist to develop 'Pure Lumi.' Breaking away from the conventional stand-type air purifier design, the product adopts a ceiling-mounted form. As a result, it does not obstruct sightlines or foot traffic, maximizing the use of space.

Another advantage is its use of center purification technology. This technology leverages the air purifier's Coandă effect to boost purification performance. The Coandă effect refers to how an airflow ejected along a wall or ceiling surface is drawn to and flows along that surface. In this case, the air spreads in only one direction, so it experiences less velocity attenuation than a free jet and travels a longer distance. The LED lighting reproduces the solar spectrum to provide light that helps regulate the body's circadian rhythm and supports health. By minimizing blue light, it enhances the color, clarity, and readability of objects, while the built-in H13-grade HEPA filter can remove more than 99.97% of fine dust.

In addition, 'Pure Lumi' incorporates the latest Internet of Things (IoT) technology, allowing easy control via a smartphone application or remote control, and the lighting and air purification functions can be used separately depending on the need.

A company official explained, "As air purifiers have become a necessity due to fine dust in recent years, we developed this product with the idea that combining them with lighting could create synergy," adding, "Depending on the purpose, it can be used everywhere—apartments, houses, senior centers, kindergartens, and more."

Meanwhile, Maltani is reviewing a plan to sell its new 'Pure Lumi' product on a rental basis. The product is currently undergoing certification, and the company plans to begin full-scale sales after obtaining final certification in mid-June. 02-555-0500
