Following the launch of its architectural antiviral paint ‘Soopuro Bio,’ KCC has expanded its antiviral paint lineup by introducing ‘Bio Coating’ products into specialized industrial paint sectors such as powder coatings and PCM coatings.
The industrial Bio Coatings launched this time consist of four products: ▲Koretan Bio ▲Pla Bio ▲Garu Bio ▲Coil Bio. When a virus adheres to a coated surface, these products eliminate more than 99% of it within six hours. They apply a special inorganic antiviral agent that is harmless to the human body and delivers excellent, semi-permanent antiviral effects. This performance has been verified by a research team at Jeonbuk National University. In addition, verification is underway at Q-Tech, a Japanese research institute, with a test report expected to be obtained soon. The products also feature antibacterial performance, having been verified by the FITI Testing & Research Institute for antibacterial and antifungal performance against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli, as well as five types of mold including black mold.
Amid the recent COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought indoor and outdoor disinfection to the forefront, KCC’s industrial Bio Coatings are expected to be applicable across a wide range of industrial fields. In particular, because industrial paints are used very broadly—from everyday household items that come into direct contact with the hands to various types of machinery, electronic devices, and structures—antiviral paint can maximize disinfection effects.
▲Koretan Bio is a general industrial paint product used to prevent corrosion and provide exterior decoration for steel in various fields such as automobiles, machinery, daily necessities, toys, and sporting goods. By satisfying various required physical properties such as excellent corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and heat resistance while also adding an antiviral function, it is expected to be applied to multi-use facilities and medical facilities requiring hygiene, such as railway vehicles and medical equipment. ▲Pla Bio is a paint applied to plastic materials and is used for various IT devices such as smartphones and accessories, tablet PCs, and laptops. It is a paint that can add an antiviral function to plastic components in healthcare and beauty devices that are closely tied to daily life.
