The Bosch Power Tools division has launched the 'GRG 18V-16 C,' a professional-grade 18V cordless rivet gun that enables quick and easy rivet work for assembling or fastening the joints of windows and window frames, doors, steel sheets, signboards, furniture, and more.
A rivet is a metal pin, similar to a nail, that permanently joins thin sheets of metal. Because of the nature of the work, a cordless rivet gun requires high output to achieve a secure rivet joint. This new product is Bosch's first cordless rivet gun and features an outstanding brushless motor that delivers a constant output of 16,000 N (newtons). It can set a variety of blind rivets ranging from 3 to 6.4 mm in diameter and is highly versatile for a wide range of metalworking tasks, including ▲HVAC and electrical equipment installation, ▲metal structures, ▲building roof and facade installation, and ▲automotive parts assembly and repair.
In addition, it stands out for improved work efficiency compared to conventional manual and cordless rivet guns. It can be used in two modes, automatic and manual, depending on the working method, and the Auto Mode is a new feature not found in competing products on the market. Users can switch it on and off through the product's human-machine interface (HMI), and when Auto Mode is used, the tool operates immediately upon pressing the trigger—just like an air rivet gun—enabling ultra-high-speed rivet work.
Furthermore, at just 1.6 kg without the battery, it is lighter than other cordless rivet guns on the market, and its compact 290 mm length makes riveting easy. The nosepiece used when changing rivet sizes can be conveniently stored and retrieved from the top of the product, and the four nosepieces included as standard cover a broad 3–6.4 mm working range without the need to swap in separate accessories. After work is completed, the leftover rivet mandrels are automatically collected in a case at the rear of the tool for added convenience.
Bosch's connectivity technology also makes product management more efficient. Once the new product is paired with the 'Bosch Toolbox' smartphone app via Bluetooth, users can set reminders for cleaning or replacement intervals of the jaws that hold the rivet. The product is compatible with Bosch's professional 18V batteries, allowing economical use of a single battery shared with Bosch's other professional cordless tools. The launch product includes one spare set of jaws as standard.
