Sampyo Group has set out to tap into the interior market on the strength of its tile adhesives. Through a technical partnership with France's PAREX Group, Sampyo Industry is launching 12 specialty 'mortar and tile adhesives' under the integrated brand 'Blutal.' With 69 plants across 22 countries, PAREX is a leading global player in the specialty mortar market, well known for its 'Davco' brand.

The new products are divided into 'specialty tile mortars' and 'tile adhesives' that draw on PAREX's advanced technology. Tile adhesives are further divided into inorganic specialty mortars, such as bonding cement and grouting cement, and organic adhesives, such as acrylic bond and epoxy bond. The most notable new product is 'Marble Dustless,' a type of Blutal tile bonding cement. Applying PAREX's advanced dust-suppression technology, this product—the first of its kind in Korea—reduces airborne dust generation by more than 80% compared with conventional products.

A Sampyo official said, "This is an innovative product that reduces not only the health and safety concerns of the workers installing tile on site but also nearby residents' concerns about dust," adding, "We plan to grow Blutal into a leading eco-friendly brand that protects the health of both residents and workers."

In addition, the interior tile adhesive is the company's first product aimed at the organic materials market, and it is an item that ordinary consumers can easily find at dealerships and elsewhere when they want to replace tile in kitchens, bathrooms, walls and the like. With these new products, the company has set out to tap into the interior market targeting general consumers.

CEO Lee Seong-yeon said, "Sampyo, Korea's No. 1 construction materials company, has joined hands with PAREX Davco, a leading European construction materials brand, to release these products to resolve the supply shortage of tile adhesives and mortar at construction sites," adding, "Having completed vertical integration of basic materials with the acquisition of Tongyang Cement, our next goal is to be reborn as a comprehensive construction materials group that also encompasses the interior market."

Meanwhile, Sampyo Group entered the dry mortar market in 2015 with the 'Sampyo Mortar' brand and secured the No. 2 position behind Hanil Cement. Building on its third Gimhae plant, set to be completed at the end of this June, the company aims to raise output to 1.6 million tons this year and to continuously diversify its product lineup. 02-460-7111
