An innovation in timber decking and siding: 'OrganoWood.' Following the 'Sioo' silica-treatment agent, KD Woodtech has launched 'OrganoWood,' a Swedish silica-treated timber. Silica-treated timber is produced by infusing silicate compounds deep into the wood cells under vacuum-pressure conditions. The infused silicate compounds form a strong mineral wall within the wood cells. Rather than killing the fungi and microorganisms found in nature, this wall performs a physical function that prevents fungi and microorganisms from decaying or eating away at the wood. Because this mineral wall does not burn, OrganoWood silica-treated timber exhibits the characteristics of semi-non-combustible timber (Flame-Retardant Grade 2). This newly launched innovative building material, 'OrganoWood' silica-treated timber, is made from high-quality wood selected from the forests of northern Sweden. The main species is red pine (Nordic pine), and it is produced and supplied in the form of exterior floor decking, siding, and boards. Sweden's 'OrganoWood' silica-treated timber was developed in collaboration with researchers from Stockholm University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and it is an eco-friendly product that uses no toxic substances. In addition, 'OrganoWood' can return to the natural cycle, so it not only requires no environmentally harmful waste disposal but is also recyclable. Furthermore, 'OrganoWood' applies silicon dioxide extracted from sand to dramatically improve the durability of the wood and transform the wood surface into a natural 'silver grey' color. A KD Woodtech official explained: “OrganoWood changes to a grey color through two natural processes. The sun's ultraviolet rays cause various microorganisms to be active on the wood surface, making the wood darker, while the silicon dioxide absorbed into the wood cells changes the wood to white through a bleaching effect. Through these two processes, a beautiful balanced grey color is achieved after about a year, at which point the OrganoWood timber turns into a beautiful silver grey color.” In addition, 'OrganoWood' is made with patented technology, so it can be used even in harsh outdoor environments. It also blocks external moisture and prevents deformation of the wood, making it very easy to maintain and manage. 'OrganoWood' can be supplied not only as building materials for decking and siding but also in a wide range of profile shapes.
