Samsung Electronics announced the launch of the ‘Bespoke AI Steam’ robot vacuum, the first in Korea to feature steam sterilization.
Made even smarter with AI (artificial intelligence), the ‘Bespoke AI Steam’ is a robot vacuum that handles dust suction, mop cleaning, automatic washing, and steam sterilization all in a single unit. As the first product in Korea to feature a ‘mop steam sterilization’ function, it addresses consumers’ concerns about mop odor and bacterial growth.
Its most notable feature is a process that ▲first automatically washes the mop with high-temperature steam and water, then ▲uses 100℃ steam sterilization to eliminate 99.99% of bacteria such as E. coli from the mop. ▲Finally, it dries the mop with 55℃ hot air, easing concerns about odor and hygiene. The mop rotates at a rapid 170 rpm (170 rotations per minute) to effectively remove floor stains and stubborn grime. In particular, when it detects a dirty spot on the floor during cleaning, it automatically returns to the Clean Station, washes the mop at high temperature with steam, and then uses the warmed mop to give the dirty area an extra round of focused cleaning.
Its further-evolved AI features are also worth noting. Based on an AI DNN (Deep Neural Network) model trained on 1.7 million object data points, the ‘Bespoke AI Steam’ uses a front-facing camera sensor to recognize and avoid a wide range of objects. Notably, the range of recognizable categories has been greatly expanded compared to previous models, allowing it to detect even thin mobile phone cables and mats. In addition, its ‘AI Floor Recognition’ function distinguishes between hardwood floors and carpets to clean each accordingly. It cleans hardwood floors with the mop, while for carpets it determines—based on their height—whether to remove the mop entirely or lift it during cleaning, preventing the carpet from getting wet or dirty. The new ‘Bespoke AI Steam’ robot vacuum comes in two colors, Satin Greige and Satin Charcoal, with a list price of 1.79 million won.
