Sidiz (CEO Lee Sang-bae), the specialized chair brand of the Fursys Group, has donated 100 museum chairs and 5 dedicated trolleys to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA, Director Youn Bum-mo) in order to help revitalize the culture and arts sector.
Sidiz arranged the sponsorship to lend a small measure of support to the culture and arts sector, which has been especially hard hit by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and to create cultural spaces where anyone can comfortably appreciate works of art. Beginning with its sponsorship of the Seoul Museum of Art in 2019, followed by the Nodeulseom cultural complex and the Daejeon Museum of Art, and now the MMCA, Sidiz museum chairs can be found in various places throughout the city.
The museum chairs donated to the MMCA will be distributed between the Seoul and Gwacheon branches, and will be used primarily in galleries showing media and video works that require longer viewing times.
The Sidiz museum chair is a compact folding chair distinguished by its excellent portability and space efficiency. It is easy to carry lightly around large exhibition halls, allowing visitors to appreciate works at their leisure. The design was also carefully considered, featuring a sophisticated black aluminum frame and a natural-looking birch handle so that the chair blends well into a variety of cultural spaces. This product was specially planned and developed by Sidiz for use in leading culture and arts venues, and is not sold separately.
Sidiz noted that many people are experiencing feelings of depression due to COVID-19, and expressed the hope that the Sidiz museum chair will offer a comforting time in which people can comfortably appreciate works of art. The company added that it will continue its cultural marketing activities so that people can experience Sidiz in various spaces in their daily lives.
Meanwhile, in addition to its cultural marketing activities, Sidiz plans to continue supporting environmental improvements at social welfare and public facilities—such as donating 200 chairs to the Anseong Senior Welfare Center—in order to fulfill its social responsibility as the No. 1 brand in the chair industry.
