LG Electronics has launched the ‘Modular Seed Kit,’ which lets users plant seeds directly in the ‘LG tiiun’ and ‘tiiun mini’ plant-care home appliances and transplant fully grown plants into a flowerpot to enjoy.
The new ‘Modular Seed Kit’ has a structure that holds two seed kit modules, each with five holes. Unlike the previous all-in-one kit, in which seeds were contained across 10 holes, customers can plant one type of seed per module and grow two kinds of plants at the same time, and fully grown plant modules can be moved to another location to be admired or transplanted into a flowerpot. In particular, flowers can be placed in a flowerpot or basket, making them great as gifts. The ‘Seed Kit Package for tiiun’ consists of six modules, three kinds of seeds, and nutrients, and is priced from 24,000 won to 36,000 won depending on the plant type. The package for tiiun mini contains two modules, one kind of seed, and nutrients, and is priced from 10,000 won to 14,000 won. Customers using existing products can also use the ‘Modular Seed Kit’ by purchasing the holder separately. Following the exterior of the tiiun mini—excluding some parts such as the transparent cover of the LED lighting unit—LG Electronics has also applied recycled plastic to the ‘Modular Seed Kit’ and the holder. The holder is reusable, so when growing new plants, customers only need to purchase the seed kit package.
With the launch of this new seed kit, LG tiiun now offers a total of 17 types of seed kits: ▲8 kinds of leafy vegetables such as green leaf lettuce, ssamchu, and romaine ▲8 kinds of flowers such as gazania, marigold, plumed cockscomb, and rose moss ▲and the herb arugula. There are a total of 9 types of seed kits for the tiiun mini, which can also be used as a smart flowerpot. LG Electronics plans to continue adding a variety of seed kits going forward.
