Shinhan Wallpaper has launched ‘Sketch,’ its new color therapy wallpaper for 2021. The newly unveiled ‘Sketch’ was co-developed with the Korea Color Therapy Association, capturing in the wallpaper the therapeutic effects that color provides.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has dragged on and the frequency of working from home and staying indoors has increased, the home has been transformed from a mere place to sleep into a workspace and a hobby space. As the boundary between daily life and work has broken down, people sometimes feel the stress and pressure of work even at home, where they should be resting. If it is difficult to separate work and daily life right away, color styling tailored to the characteristics of each space can help reduce the fatigue of the eyes and mind.
‘Sketch’ is distinguished from conventional plain wallpapers by providing consumers weary from daily life with stress relief and psychological stability, capturing the therapeutic effects each color possesses. In addition, it delivers true ‘therapy’ with eco-friendly certification and anti-mold and antibacterial functions. It has received the ‘OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1’ certification—suitable for use by infants under 3 years old—as well as the ‘GREENGUARD Gold’ certification from UL, a world-renowned safety standard certification body. With an anti-mold function that mitigates mold and an antibacterial function that inhibits bacteria, it can be used with peace of mind.
Therapeutic effects of color and recommended spaces
Beige With its warm tones, beige brings stability to the nervous system and is effective against tension, stress, and insomnia. Because it makes the mind relaxed and calm, it is well suited for residential spaces, and as a neutral color it has the advantage of being easy to match with other colors. Recommended spaces: living room, bedroom
Gray Calm and clean, ‘Gray’ symbolizes a new beginning. It is a color that suits any space, but when used especially in spaces where rest is needed, it helps make the mind comfortable and calm. Matching beige and gray—colors that provide psychological stability—together can turn your home into your very own ‘retreat’ and ‘space of healing.’ Recommended spaces: living room, bedroom
Pink Romantic and emotional, ‘Pink’ stimulates the sensory nerves and helps with insomnia and stress. Because it creates a sense of coziness and comfort, it can also relieve distracted or anxious emotions. Recommended spaces: bedroom, children's room, hallway, entrance
Blue A refreshing color that brings stability to body and mind, ‘Blue’ has the effect of calming and soothing the body and mind. If you usually feel a lot of tension or experience a lot of stress, it is good to use the calm tones of blue. Recommended spaces: living room, bedroom
Green As green is the color closest to nature, it helps ease tension and stabilize the emotions. With its stable and calm tones, it relieves eye fatigue, so it is good to use in spaces where electronic devices are frequently used or concentration is needed. Recommended spaces: bedroom, study room, office
Yellow Yellow, an intermediate color between warmth and coolness, brings a sense of balance to the mind and infuses the space with vitality. It is effective when active brain activity or creativity is needed. Because yellow's bright tones add energy when you feel down, it helps boost concentration and self-esteem. Recommended spaces: living room, kitchen, bathroom 02-817-6539
