HomeCC Interior, the interior specialty brand of KCC Glass (CEO Kim Nae-hwan), has relaunched 'Soop Dodam,' a PVC flooring product suited to homes with children and pets.
The name 'Soop Dodam' comes from the Korean word 'dodam-dodam,' which describes a young child growing up playing happily and without trouble. The name reflects the product's meaning as safe flooring that the whole family—including children and pets—can use with peace of mind, thanks to its excellent walking comfort and its safety from harmful substances. The product combines a high-strength transparent layer made using the Calender process with a highly elastic cushion layer made using the SOL process, giving it outstanding durability against surface denting and scratching, along with excellent walking comfort and reduction of everyday noise.
In particular, the highly elastic cushion layer absorbs the impact placed on the feet and joints when jumping or landing, making it ideal for active pets. In addition, 'Soop Dodam' has had its product safety recognized through various eco-friendly certifications, including the Environmental Label certification, the HB Mark, and the Korea Atopy Association Recommended Product Mark. It is also the first product in the PVC flooring industry to obtain the 'Pet Product Safety Certification (PS Certification)' granted by the Korea Kennel Club and KOTITI Testing & Research Institute, a nationally accredited testing body, verifying its safety and suitability for pets. Its hygienic qualities are another advantage. With few seams, it is easy to clean after a child's or pet's toileting accidents, there is no worry about contamination through gaps, and compared to wood flooring it is more resistant to moisture and various kinds of soiling. Furthermore, hinoki cypress oil, which has a strong deodorizing effect, is added to the surface UV coating layer, helping to maintain a clean indoor environment.
'Soop Dodam' is offered in two thicknesses, 2.7 mm and 3.2 mm, and comes in a total of 18 varied design patterns, allowing consumers to create spaces that suit their tastes. As distinctive designs using natural materials have recently grown in popularity, the relaunched product reflects this trend by adding six new pattern designs. The new patterns use synchronized embossing technology and three-dimensional 3D design to render the feel of natural materials such as stone and solid wood even more realistically. In particular, by enlarging the size of the patterns to reduce repeating motifs, the designs add a sense of realism and spatial expansiveness.
A KCC Glass official said, "With the pet-owning population now reaching 15 million, there has been a significant increase in consumers who want sophisticated interior design even in pet-friendly living environments. We proceeded with the Soop Dodam renewal to reflect this trend," adding, "Going forward, we plan to continuously develop premium flooring products in diverse designs tailored to market trends and consumer needs, further strengthening our product competitiveness."
Meanwhile, KCC Glass's HomeCC Interior flooring was named No. 1 in the residential flooring category for the seventh consecutive year in the '2022 Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI)' organized by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC) last year, and No. 1 in the PVC flooring category for the 13th consecutive year in the '2022 Korea Standard-Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI)' organized by the Korean Standards Association (KSA), earning recognition as the finest flooring satisfying both consumers and experts alike. 02-3480-8777
