Irisys has completed development of a face-recognition-based ‘video phone (doorbell)’ incorporating its proprietary facial recognition technology, and has declared its full-scale entry into the market.
The company explained that the new product adds facial recognition to the existing functions of the video phones installed in each household, so that when a registered user approaches, the system automatically recognizes the user and unlocks the door. The company said this technology overcomes the various limitations of conventional door locks, and includes a function that recognizes users more quickly and opens the door immediately, as well as a function that, when an unregistered user approaches, takes a photo in real time and sends it to the user. In addition, a function has been added that allows users to check visitors and open the door via mobile device even while they are out.
Irisys expects that the launch of this product will bring significant changes not only to the video phone market but also to the door lock market.
An Irisys official said, “The newly developed product has already been installed and is in operation at a leading redevelopment complex in Gangnam, Seoul, and it is receiving a favorable response from residents.”
