GYG Elevator (CEO Lee Geum-gi) is launching the ‘Air Shower Elevator,’ which can dramatically reduce air pollution and the inflow of contaminants inside buildings.
The ‘Air Shower Elevator’ is regarded as an all-around performer when it comes to contamination management, offering not only basic air circulation but also the purification of yellow dust and fine dust, a sterilization function targeting COVID-19, and odor deodorization.
Lee Geum-gi, CEO of GYG Elevator, said, “Seeing that managing the hazards of air pollution in enclosed spaces would become even more important in the fast-growing elevator accessory market, we have invested intensively in this field for several years,” adding, “We obtained the relevant patent in January last year and are set to begin full-scale production this September.”
The differentiated technological competitiveness of the ‘Air Shower Elevator’ lies in its whirlwind. Many elevators claiming to be clean rooms have been released before, but they remain in their infancy in terms of wind direction and flow velocity, being limited to straight-line airflow. In contrast, the ‘Air Shower Elevator’ operates multiple motors within the panels on both sides of the cab to circulate air evenly at a wind speed of 25 meters per second. The wind sweeps over every corner of up to 30 passengers’ bodies, shaking off all kinds of foreign particles and fine dust, which the air vents then draw back in.
On top of this, it uses a UV (ultraviolet) photocatalyst to sterilize the air within 1.5 seconds, and an elevator-dedicated air purifier equipped with a high-performance HEPA filter completes the elevator’s air quality management system. In addition, it offers a built-in timer and airflow control, enabling customized operation according to conditions. As a matter of course, it operates every time the elevator doors open and close, maintaining a pleasant environment 24 hours a day. Its panel-mounted design, which makes installation simple, is another advantage.
GYG Elevator said, “We expect the Air Shower Elevator to be most useful when operating in medical institutions, and we will later expand its scope to general buildings and homes,” explaining, “Including the new installation market—such as the roughly 800,000 elevators already installed and the 50,000 aging units replaced each year—it has potential value of more than 2 trillion won.”
Meanwhile, GYG Elevator plans to pursue registration as an Excellent Procurement Product with the Public Procurement Service within the year and to launch the product in earnest during the fourth quarter. 02-3442-1117
