IKEA, the global home furnishing company, is launching solar-powered lighting products that let people easily experience solar energy in everyday life, with a simultaneous release in markets worldwide, including Korea.
IKEA announced that it is introducing the solar-powered lighting range 'SAMMANLÄNKAD' in collaboration with Little Sun, a Swedish social enterprise. Little Sun was founded by world-renowned artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen, and it supplies solar energy to regions with limited access to electricity, such as sub-Saharan Africa.
Meaning 'linked together' in Swedish, 'SAMMANLÄNKAD' consists of two solar-powered lighting products that combine aesthetics with practicality. The design of the 'LED solar-powered table lamp' was inspired by the movement of the Earth orbiting the sun. Using the eyelet and wire set included with the product, it can be used as a pendant lamp, and the bulb can be detached for use as a flashlight. Charging is also convenient. It can be charged via a solar panel or through USB-A and USB-C ports, and when fully charged, it can be used like a portable phone battery pack. The 'LED solar-powered lamp,' ideal for carrying outdoors, comes with a yellow strap so it can be hung on a window or bag to charge during the day.
