Inmok Co., Ltd. has launched 'MCB,' a new product set to bring innovation to the building materials market. Inmok, which is evolving from a veneer specialist into a building materials specialist, offers this new product as a digitally designed composite inorganic panel with semi-noncombustible and water-resistant performance.
MCB is manufactured by impregnating Mimmetic digital printing decor paper with resin to make LPL, which is then fused and bonded to a composite inorganic board under high pressure and high heat. It is an eco-friendly product that uses natural inorganic materials such as magnesium and silicon as the core material, blended with wood fiber and cured through a chemical reaction between the materials. Because no formalin-based adhesive harmful to the human body is used in the manufacturing process, the product carries the ENF (Extremely No Formaldehyde) grade with zero formaldehyde emissions—far superior to the Super E0 grade, the highest level in Korea. MCB has a density of 1,300–1,400 kg/m³, and its very fine, tightly packed particles give it excellent workability. There is no edge chipping during processing with a standard carbide saw or router, and it is easy to fasten with staples or screws, so it can be readily worked on site using ordinary woodworking methods. Thanks to these characteristics, it can be used for a wide range of applications requiring semi-noncombustible, water-resistant materials, such as interior wall panels, art walls, kitchen furniture midways, bathroom cabinets, flood barriers, and toilet cubicles.
Seok Yu-cheol, team leader at Inmok, explained, “MCB is an innovative alternative material that can fundamentally resolve noncombustibility and water resistance, the greatest weaknesses of wood-based panel materials such as MDF,” adding, “It applies 1,200 dpi ultra-high-resolution Mimmetic digital printing, giving it strong differentiation in 3D effect, photorealistic feel, and color, and its outstanding price competitiveness means it is expected to be used for a variety of purposes.”
Inmok currently supplies MCB in 6 mm and 8 mm thicknesses in a 4'×8' format, and plans to offer a 4'×9' format in the future. With this launch of MCB, Inmok is expected to further solidify its position in the building materials market.
