Hyundai Livart is joining hands with a renowned overseas furniture designer to unveil differentiated furniture.

Total interior company Hyundai Livart is introducing the 'Union Chair,' an office chair developed in collaboration with American industrial designer 'Jeff Weber.'

The Union Chair being unveiled this time was created through the 'Art&DesignProject 2022,' which Hyundai Livart is pursuing to strengthen its furniture design competitiveness. Art&DesignProject 2022 is a project that presents original design furniture by collaborating with artists and designers who are drawing high attention abroad.

Hyundai Livart co-developed the Union Chair with 'SWA (Studio Webber+Associates),' a design group founded by Jeff Weber. Under this arrangement, Jeff Weber is in charge of the product design, while Hyundai Livart handles manufacturing and sales.

Jeff Weber, who is taking part in the design collaboration with Hyundai Livart, is an American industrial designer and one of the leading designers at the famous American furniture company 'Herman Miller,' which is often called the bible of office furniture.

The Union Chair is manufactured using the 'injection molding' method, in which plastic material is melted and then cooled within a mold. In particular, it is built with a 'tilting' structure in which the seat (the part you sit on) is lifted up and down in proportion to the force with which the user pushes against the backrest, so the lower back and hips fit snugly against the chair according to the sitter's body shape and weight without any separate adjustment. The company explained that this creates a larger area of contact between the body and the chair, which is effective in distributing body weight and allows users to feel comfortable even when sitting for long periods.

The new product is available in six colors, including white, red, blue, and brown, and offers a total of 76 possible combinations depending on the armrest and caster (chair wheel) options. Prices range from 160,000 won to 269,000 won.

Hyundai Livart exhibited and sold the Union Chair at a pop-up store on the 4th floor of 'The Hyundai Seoul,' which ran through September 18. The pop-up store will be operated sequentially at major department stores such as the Pangyo and Trade Center branches. It can also be found at major offline stores, including flagship stores such as 'Livart Total Gangnam,' as well as the official online mall, Livart Mall (www.hyundailivart.co.kr).

A Hyundai Livart official said, "Through various endeavors in color, design, and quality, we are continuously working to strengthen Hyundai Livart's own differentiated and sophisticated design competitiveness," adding, "We will continue to lead furniture market trends going forward with designs that have been hard to come by in the domestic furniture market."
