Xigeist, GS E&C's wood-frame modular housing subsidiary, has launched its new product 'Xigeist RM' in line with the government's policy to promote the supply of second homes. RM is short for 'Real Modular,' signifying that the product embodies the fundamentals of a 'modular house.'

The new product completes 80% of the entire construction process at the factory, with the modules simply assembled on-site—reducing costs compared to previously released modular housing products. Since most of the equipment as well as the interior and exterior finishes are installed at the factory, on-site construction after the modules are transported takes only about a week. The 'Xigeist RM' has a total floor area of 58.60㎡ and features two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a kitchen and living room that flow seamlessly together, creating a spacious feel. In particular, a wide living room window is placed at the front of the house to secure abundant natural light and to draw the eye naturally out toward the yard.

Earlier this year, the government announced a 'second home' promotion policy aimed at preventing regional extinction caused by population decline. Under this policy, if the head of a household that already owns one home acquires an additional home in a population-decline area, they are still regarded as a single-home owner and receive tax benefits on the purchase and ownership of the property. The new product was launched to target the demand generated by this government policy.

Nam Kyung-ho, CEO of Xigeist, said, "Since launching Xigeist last year, we have received many requests from homeowners for small-scale housing development," adding, "We expect the new product, aligned with government policy, to help lower the barrier to entry for second homes." 02-2154-4311
