LX Glass announced the launch of 'SKN176,' a double low-E glass for residential use.
Following the strong consumer response to its non-tempered double low-E glass 'SKN154 II,' released in 2020, LX Glass plans to expand its lineup with non-tempered double low-E glass specialized for residential buildings. The new 'SKN176' is a double low-E glass product coated twice with silver, delivering outstanding thermal insulation performance with a thermal transmittance (U-value) of 0.99 W/㎡K (based on a 16㎜ argon-filled air layer).
When applied to windows, double low-E glass blocks far more solar heat than single low-E glass, which is coated with silver only once. As a result, it prevents indoor spaces from heating up during hot summers, reducing cooling costs, and its high visible-light transmittance keeps interiors bright and airy without artificial lighting. In addition, the new product's low interior reflectance ensures a clear field of view when looking outside, making it well suited to high-end residential buildings. Another advantage is that 'SKN176,' being a non-tempered product, skips the tempering process, thereby shortening the insulated glass fabrication time and speeding up on-site delivery. LX Glass expects that omitting the tempering process will help secure price competitiveness.
An LX Glass official said, "The new SKN176 offers even better durability, workability, and energy efficiency than SKN154 II," adding, "We plan to sell it as a standard specification for top-tier, high-end window brands."
