Login Digital Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Young-hwan) announced that it has developed a Far-UVC 'Sensor Sterilization Lighting' using 222㎚ UVC.
Instead of 254㎚ UVC, which has strong sterilizing power but can be harmful to the human body, this newly launched product achieves a similar level of sterilizing power by utilizing light with a 222㎚ wavelength, known to be harmless to the human body. After developing composite sterilization lighting to harness the effects of Far-UVC, Login Digital is strengthening its product development capabilities by launching this 'Sensor Sterilization Lighting.'
Login Digital's 'Sensor Sterilization Lighting' applies a 222㎚ Far-UVC lamp (Eximer Lamp) and an in-house developed AC-input ballast (SMPS), and is equipped with a human-detection sensor so that it automatically turns off when a person is exposed to it. A Login Digital official said, "Because the wavelength of the light is short, it cannot penetrate the cornea of the eye or the stratum corneum of the skin, so it is known to be harmless to the human body."
The sterilizing power and optical safety of the 'Sensor Sterilization Lighting' have already been verified by an accredited certification body during the development of the Far-UVC composite sterilization lighting. The new product delivers 99.9% sterilizing power even at a distance of 1m, has obtained a RISK Group 0 rating, and has completed KC Safety Certification and Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification.
A Login Digital official said, "We succeeded in miniaturizing the AC-input ballast, a core component of the sensor sterilization lighting," adding, "We will strive to make this available as a replacement for mercury UVC lamps, which are harmful to the human body."
