Noroo Paint announced that it has developed 'BIO-HQ,' Korea's first eco-friendly paint for home appliances containing bio-based raw materials, jointly with its subsidiary Noroo Coil Coating.

'BIO-HQ' is a bio-paint that applies ingredients extracted from natural substances such as sugarcane and corn—via chemical reactions—to resins and solvents, the essential components of paint. According to Noroo Paint, existing bio-paints on the market were applied only to highly volatile solvents, but 'BIO-HQ,' developed by Noroo Paint, differs from competitors' products in that it is Korea's first to use bio-based raw materials in the resin component as well.

In physical property testing, this bio-paint was shown to have a bio content of over 20% within the coating film. In addition, with its excellent processability and scratch resistance, it possesses the quality to satisfy the color, processability, hardness, and other requirements demanded by electronics manufacturers. Noroo Paint expects that this product will be able to meet the demand for eco-friendly materials that the home appliance industry has recently called for.

In particular, Noroo Paint anticipates that 'BIO-HQ,' as a distinctive eco-friendly product that can appeal to "greensumers"—a trend spreading recently, especially among the MZ generation—will be able to secure competitiveness in the growing market for eco-friendly home appliance paints.

The Noroo Paint Research Institute said, "In line with the government's carbon-neutrality policy in response to the seriousness of global climate change and with Noroo Paint's ESG management, our researchers, who have developed paints for decades, are striving to develop eco-friendly raw materials," adding, "We will continue to work on developing products that benefit the global environment and earn our customers' recognition." 031-467-6114
