KD WoodTech, a company that continuously develops building materials for soundproofing and acoustic construction in Korea, has unveiled the ‘Acoustic Flexible Panel,’ a new product from its acoustic brand ‘SoundMate.’
Until now, professional ‘acoustic panels’ with sound-absorbing characteristics were installed in opera houses and performance halls, or were limited to acoustic listening rooms. Recently, however, as built-in furniture recessed into walls has become more common, sound reverberation within the home has grown more severe, and damage caused by noise is occurring frequently. As a result, a quiet environment is becoming an essential element of design, and in Europe demand for acoustic panels in homes, restaurants, and similar settings has been surging for several years now.
Amid increasingly serious noise pollution, the new ‘Acoustic Flexible Panel’ is characterized by its ability to reduce noise and create a comfortable space, and it has been launched as the thinnest wood-veneer panel with the freedom for curved-surface installation.
The ‘Acoustic Flexible Panel’ is made by attaching 3 mm wood slats onto a 5 mm-thick sound-absorbing panel. The slats are offered in two sizes, 23 mm and 38 mm, and the slat surfaces are finished with original solid-wood veneer. The standard dimensions are 8.5 mm in thickness, 600 mm in width, and 2,400 mm in length. In addition, the ‘Acoustic Flexible Panel’ is installed by applying 3M’s spray-type adhesive to both the base surface and the back of the panel, and when installed on a plywood surface or wooden joists, it can be fastened using a pin nailer.
