Cosmos Wallpaper, an eco-friendly wallpaper company, has launched its eco-friendly ‘Premium Flame-Retardant Wallpaper,’ which has obtained Environmental Label certification.
According to Cosmos Wallpaper, this new product breaks from the industry practice of releasing flame-retardant collections that simply borrow silk wallpaper designs. Instead, the company separately developed and included designs suited to multi-use establishments, lodging facilities, medical facilities, and other venues that are required to install finishing materials with flame-retardant performance.
In particular, as fire safety standards for buildings are being progressively strengthened in the wake of a series of recent large-scale fires, the market for flame-retardant and semi-non-combustible wallpaper offering fire safety continues to grow each year. In addition, under the revised Special Act on the Safety Control of Publicly Used Establishments, the range of facilities required to install finishing materials with flame-retardant performance is expanding from the previous scope of officetels of 11 or more stories, lodging facilities, and medical facilities to include virtual-reality experience sports facilities, kids’ cafés, escape-room cafés, and comic-book cafés—raising expectations for the role of this new flame-retardant wallpaper.
Unlike ordinary residential spaces, the market for flame-retardant wallpaper requires specialized embossing and color designs that meet consumer needs suited to commercial facilities, multi-use facilities, and the like. As Cosmos Wallpaper has separately developed and released designs tailored to these requirements, the company anticipates expanding its share of the flame-retardant wallpaper market through customized design and color development.
