Premium kitchen and bath brand Kohler has launched its new ‘Merlott’ kitchen furniture series in Korea.
The new ‘Merlott’ series is distinguished by the open design and efficient workflow management sought in modern kitchens, along with the use of lighting to create a luxurious atmosphere. In particular, ‘Merlott’ is a moving-island kitchen unit with a motorized, sliding countertop. Normally, the cooktop is hidden so the unit can be used as a unified space that doubles as a dining table, and when cooking or additional workspace is needed, the motorized countertop opens to expand the space. The motorized countertop can be operated smoothly via remote control, and it automatically stops when it detects the risk of fingers or foreign objects being caught as the countertop opens and closes.
The new ‘Merlott’ series is offered in a total of four colors that help promote a sense of psychological calm—▲Wine Wood Grain ▲Marble Grain ▲Stone Grain ▲Rose Gold—and lighting is fitted beneath the countertop to create a luxurious atmosphere. In addition, the lighting can be simply switched on and off by placing your hand over the smart sensor mounted under the countertop, while the lower cabinet features a storage frame designed to accommodate the characteristics of cookware, allowing everything to be organized neatly and spaciously, both inside and out.
Park Sun-young, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Kohler Korea, said, “As home café and home restaurant culture has recently taken hold, the kitchen is being reinterpreted not simply as a cooking space but as another healing space for enjoying leisure,” adding, “The Kohler Merlott series launched this time is distinguished by its ability to create a clean and luxurious atmosphere even in a kitchen that could otherwise look cluttered with numerous cooking utensils and appliances.”
