Samhwa Paint Industrial has launched an antiviral paint for apartment coating, strengthening its push into the coating market for aging apartments.
Samhwa Paint announced that it has released 'Ansim Doctor Water-Based Interior Grade 1,' an antiviral paint that meets the KS standard (KSM6010 Type 2 Grade 1). KSM6010 Type 2 Grade 1 is a KS standard for water-based interior paints used on building interior walls, staircase apartment corridors, underground parking lots and the like.
'Ansim Doctor Water-Based Interior Grade 1' is a product designed to comply with this standard, offering excellent alkali resistance, water resistance, durability and scrub resistance while also providing an antiviral function. In addition, the antiviral function of 'Ansim Doctor Water-Based Interior Grade 1' was verified using picornavirus, a non-enveloped virus, by an institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. According to a US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) white paper, if a product is effective against non-enveloped viruses, which are highly resistant to antiviral agents, it has been reported to also be effective against enveloped viruses such as the coronavirus and Ebola, which have weaker resistance.
Furthermore, 'Ansim Doctor Water-Based Interior Grade 1' contains no organic solvents or heavy-metal components harmful to the human body, and its volatile organic compound (VOC) content has been minimized so that it can be used with peace of mind.
A Samhwa Paint official said, "We developed the product to reflect the rising demand for antiviral building materials driven by COVID-19," adding, "As people are spending more time at home, we plan to proactively target the apartment coating market first."
