Hyundai Rental Care is expanding its hygiene appliance lineup with the launch of a new air sterilizer rental product. Unlike air purifiers, which focus on filtering out fine dust, an air sterilizer is a product that emphasizes the function of sterilizing viruses, bacteria, mold, and more.

Hyundai Rental Care, the total home care company of Hyundai Department Store Group, announced that it has partnered with the small and medium-sized enterprise EMW to introduce a rental product for the ‘Claro Duo’ air sterilizer. EMW is a company that has specialized in manufacturing air sterilizers since 2011.

The Claro Duo air sterilizer introduced this time is a 2-in-1 product that adds a sterilization function to an air purifier. Air drawn in through a ‘4-stage filter (pre-filter – functional filter – deodorizing filter – ultrafine dust collection filter)’ goes through a sterilization process using ‘platinum nano sterilization technology’ before being discharged.

The ‘platinum nano sterilization technology’ uses a platinum catalyst to remove viruses and bacteria at high temperatures of over 250 degrees, and was inspired by the ‘Bake-out’ process, in which the indoor air temperature is raised to remove harmful substances before moving into a newly constructed building. In particular, it has been recognized by the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), an agency under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, for reducing airborne viruses and airborne bacteria by 94% over 30 minutes and 99.1% over 1 hour, respectively.

The recommended usage area of the Claro Duo air sterilizer is 39.2㎡ (12 pyeong), and it can be installed in either a stand type or a wall-mounted type as desired. Hyundai Rental Care provides customers who purchase the rental product with a service that replaces the functional filter every 6 months and replaces the deodorizing filter and ultrafine dust collection filter every year (12 months).

The monthly rental fee is 33,900 won, with a mandatory usage period of 48 months. If a customer who has been issued the ‘Hyundai Cuming Hana Card,’ a credit card affiliated with Hyundai Rental Care, selects the ‘Claro Duo’ discount benefit and spends more than 300,000 won in the previous month, the rental fee is discounted by 13,000 won per month. In addition, customers who newly issue a Hyundai Department Store Card can receive an additional discount of 5,000 won per month for 24 months by using just 10,000 won in the previous month. When all of these discount benefits are applied, customers can receive a discount of up to 18,000 won per month.

An official from Hyundai Rental Care said, “We have proactively introduced the air sterilizer to reflect customers’ growing demand for hygiene and sterilization amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “This year as well, we plan to continuously launch new Hyundai Cuming hygiene appliances, such as water purifiers, air purifiers, and bidets with enhanced hygiene functions.”
