KCC, a global applied-materials chemical company, has unveiled a new ceiling material, ‘Large-Format Gypsum Tex Plus.’
The new ‘Large-Format Gypsum Tex Plus’ offers the advantage of reducing construction costs by cutting material requirements, thanks to dimensions that are 1.5 times larger than those of existing products. According to the company’s own testing, installation speed also increased to about 1.8 times that of existing products. Because the product can be fixed with screws without on-site painting, it can be installed quickly and easily, greatly boosting installation speed, the company explained. In addition, ‘Large-Format Gypsum Tex Plus’ minimizes the visible joints on the ceiling, so that Gypsum Tex’s distinctive refined dot pattern and clean, pure white come together to create an open, stylish atmosphere. In particular, KCC has also developed recessed lighting fixtures set at the same height as the Gypsum Tex surface, enabling a more sophisticated spatial presentation when installed together.
KCC also devoted great effort to securing safety, which is fundamental to interior materials. Designed as a non-combustible ceiling material, ‘Large-Format Gypsum Tex Plus’ is perfectly suited to public spaces where people gather, such as offices, schools, and hospitals, as it does not easily catch fire even in the event of a fire. Furthermore, equipped with a seismic ceiling system, it has proven its safety by obtaining a test report certifying that it passed a seismic test for earthquakes of magnitude 8.4 or greater at a disaster-prevention research center. In addition, in organic-compound emission testing, ‘Large-Format Gypsum Tex Plus’ earned the top HB Mark grade among the ratings certified under the eco-friendly building material standards established by the Korea Air Cleaning Association, and it became the first domestic building material to be selected as a product recommended by the Korea Atopy Association. As an asbestos-free product, it also minimizes the emission of harmful substances such as formaldehyde and toluene.
A KCC official said, “Large-Format Gypsum Tex Plus is a product with the major advantage of significantly larger dimensions than existing products, which raises installation speed and reduces construction costs,” adding, “With its outstanding safety and durability, it is well suited for use in a variety of public spaces, and we expect its application to expand.” 02-3480-5000
