In response to the ongoing innovative advancements in the logistics industry, KCC (CEO Jung Jae-hoon) has launched four flooring products suited to autonomous logistics robots (hereinafter AGV: Automated Guided Vehicle / AMR: Autonomous Mobile Robot).
An AGV moves along a fixed route guided by magnetic tape, QR codes, or separate external markers, while an AMR is a robot that travels along the optimal route to a set of coordinates and, when it encounters an obstacle, reroutes and moves autonomously. This newly unveiled lineup of four flooring systems dedicated to AGVs/AMRs was developed to match the characteristics of AGVs and AMRs. Logistics robots themselves weigh between 1 and 5 tons, and when combined with the goods they carry and the repeated transport along the same route, floor surface damage occurs frequently. In addition, electrostatic shock that can arise from friction with the floor and the loaded goods may cause defects in automation equipment.
Through its 'Smart Series'—comprising the four flooring systems dedicated to AGVs/AMRs, namely the epoxy-based high-strength flooring Smart E along with Smart T, Smart C, and Smart H—KCC is now able to provide solutions optimized for each situation, such as ▲the load of the equipment and ▲whether the site is a new construction or a repair project. To showcase the excellence of its flooring systems optimized for logistics automation systems, KCC recently participated in the Korea International Logistics Fair held at KINTEX in Ilsan—as the only domestic paint maker to take part—and received favorable reviews. Alongside this, KCC also promoted the excellence of two organic water-based fireproof coatings essential to fire safety in logistics warehouses. The 'Fire Mask AQ Series,' an organic water-based fireproof coating that KCC developed for the first time in Korea in February last year, can slow the rate of temperature rise in steel frames in the event of a fire at a logistics center, thereby delaying structural collapse.
