KCC (CEO Chung Mong-jin) has launched 'Supüro Cha-yeol Top Coat', a product that reduces energy consumption and creates a comfortable indoor environment simply by being applied to building exterior walls and roofs.
Heat-shielding paints have recently drawn attention as products capable of responding to climate change, such as heat waves and global warming. This is because the energy-saving effect achieved through the heat-shielding function helps to realize carbon neutrality, reduce the environmental burden, and lower surface temperatures.
The newly launched 'Supüro Cha-yeol Top Coat' is a product that applies a one-component, water-based special acrylic resin, and it reflects infrared rays in sunlight to suppress the rise in surface temperature. As a result, it blocks heat from being transferred inside, delivering a heat-shielding effect. This effect prevents the temperature inside the building from rising, thereby mitigating the urban heat island effect and reducing the energy consumed for cooling—reflecting the trend of the times, which pursues the ESG concept even in products.
In fact, this product holds a test report confirming that it meets the SPS-KPIC 5020-7316 standard, the group standard for rooftop solar-radiation heat-shielding coatings. In KCC's own evaluation, the surface coated with 'Supüro Cha-yeol Top Coat' recorded temperatures up to 10 degrees or more lower than bare cement floor surfaces and areas finished with ordinary waterproofing materials. In addition, 'Supüro Cha-yeol Top Coat' can be applied not only to urban buildings but also to livestock barns, silos, and logistics warehouses where air conditioner installation is difficult, so it is expected to prevent heat-wave-induced stress in livestock and reduce mortality rates, thereby minimizing economic losses for livestock farms. It also offers the advantage of high ease of application. In particular, it can be applied over water-based waterproofing materials, so it also serves as a rooftop waterproofing material.
A KCC official stated, "Amid the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast that heat waves are expected to cause considerable damage, we have built a heat-shielding coating lineup that includes Supüro Cha-yeol Top Coat, Spotan Top Coat (Energy), and Spo-Road Cool," adding, "Going forward, our company will actively develop products that benefit the public environment and fully carry out its responsibilities and role as a leading domestic paint company." 02-3480-5000
